For a team with high expectations every year, the New York Yankees are right on track this season. They hold the best record in the American League at 18-10 despite not having Gerrit Cole or Carlos Rodon to start the season.
Max Fried, Will Warren, and Cam Schlittler have all gotten off to a great start. Fried and Schlittler lead the team with three wins, while Schlittler holds the lowest ERA with his 1.77 and also leads the club with his 41 strikeouts.
Outside of pitching, the club is hitting well. They have combined for 43 home runs so far, which is the second most across MLB, just two off from tying the juggernaut that is the Los Angeles Dodgers.

While the Yankees staff has performed well, it could get a whole lot better here soon. Gerrit Cole made his second rehab start last week and is nearing his return from Tommy John surgery.

Rodon is also getting some rehab starts in, making his first start over the weekend. Without any setbacks, both could be back in the rotation before the month of May ends.
With the two returning soon and the way the rotation has already looked without them, Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller has them as a favorite to represent the American League later in October.
