Broughton confirmed that a formal expression of interest has already been made.
âWe have shown our interest in trying to bring a player of that calibre to Chicago. Robert is still a Barcelona player, and it wouldnât be right to talk too much about a player who is under contract with another club,â he added.
Chicago Fire, though, is not the only option at Lewandowskiâs disposal, as the Pole has also been courted by Italian clubs, including Juventus, who are ready to offer him a deal worth around âŹ6 million.
This is a fraction of the âŹ20 million deal offered by Chicago Fire, but it appears Lewandowski wants to continue at the highest level of football.
That is why Juventus remain an option, while a prolonged stay at Barcelona has not been ruled out either.
The coming hours could prove to be crucial as his agent, Pini Zahavi, hands Lewandowski all possible options, after which the player is expected to make a final decision.
