— Maryland Tennis (@TerpTennis) April 12, 2026 Doubles pairs Emma Ghirardato and Diya Challa and Oliwia Orlinska and Aida Eissa each won their matchups. Freshmen Lucia Donnelly and Magdalena Baniak won their singles matchups, and Challa won hers to clinch the victory. The Terps have had a stellar year under sixth-year head coach Katie Dougherty — their .750 record (15-5) so far would be their best winning percentage in a season since the program’s first year in 1977-78. Maryland entered the weekend ranked No. 44 in the country by the ITA, the eighth-highest mark in the conference, and will likely rise following the victory over the Spartans. The Terps’ seventh conference win sees them tie for fifth place in the conference standings. Maryland could rise as high as fourth place in the conference by the end of the season; it is firmly within the chasing pack of teams vying for seeding in the Big Ten. Maryland has two matches remaining in the regular season; those come at home Friday and Sunday against No. 56 Northwestern and No. 57 Illinois, respectively. The Terps are undefeated at home on the season, with their 12 wins tied for the most of any team in the conference. The Big Ten Tournament will run from April 22-26 in Columbus, Ohio.
