Three Maryland men's lacrosse players, Henry Dodge, Brian Ruppel, and Riley Reese, will return in 2027 after being granted an extra year of eligibility. Their return bolsters the team's lineup as they prepare for significant roster changes next season.
đ¨BREAKING: Iâm told @TerpsMLax star FO Henry Dodge has been granted an extra year of eligibility and will return to Maryland in 2027.

â James Hogan V (@james\_hoganv) May 6, 2026 Dodge, the nationâs second-best faceoff specialist, was a revelation for the Terps in his first season in College Park. The All-Big Ten first-teamer posted a 67.9% faceoff win percentage and keyed Maryland to the third-highest faceoff success rate in the country. Dodge will team up with Jonah Carrier in the Terpsâ faceoff committee again. Marylandâs defense found its groove in the latter half of the season, and Reeseâs emergence was a large reason why. Filling in for Will Schaller, Reese quickly became the Terpsâ vocal leader in his first career starts. He logged a game-winning goal during Big Ten play and forced five of his 10 turnovers against Rutgers. Reese and Peter Laake will anchor Marylandâs starting defensive trio next year. Ruppel had big shoes to fill between the pipes after taking over the starting role from longtime goalie Logan McNaney. His first season was rather turbulent. Despite conceding double-digit goals during the Terpsâ losing streak, Ruppel notched at least 10 saves in nine of the 13 games. His return shores up Marylandâs goalkeeper questions ahead of 2027. With 14 incoming freshmen and 15 players departing, John Tillman has little room to retool the attack through the transfer portal. But the continuity across the Terpsâ other position groups should ease some concerns ahead of a critical offseason.
Emil Riegger will represent Maryland menâs golf at the NCAA Regionals for a second consecutive season after being named to the All-Big Ten second team.
