Speaking during the international break, Caicedo said, via football.london: "I'm focused on my club right now. I have a contract with my club, and I want to do well. I want to be a legend, God willing."
Liam Rosenior had already hinted at positive developments earlier this month, remarking: "We've also had conversations with certain players in the group as well who are really, really happy with the direction that we're going to go in."
When pressed to elaborate further, the Chelsea head coach simply replied: "You'll see."
It now appears evident that Rosenior was alluding to Caicedo's contract extension, and if his remarks are anything to go by, further announcements could soon follow in the Ecuadorian's wake.
Caicedo joined Chelsea nearly three years ago for what was at the time a British record fee of £115 million ($146 million) from Brighton. Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, the Ecuador international, who opted for the Blues over a move to Liverpool, has racked up 140 appearances.
Caicedo was named Chelsea's Player of the Season in recognition of his performances throughout the 2024/25 campaign, during which he played a key role in helping the Blues clinch the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup, while also securing a Champions League berth.
