WNBA general managers have made a strong statement about the league’s best point guard, and it is not the answer many Caitlin Clark fans would have expected.
Clark remains one of the most influential offensive players in the league, with her range, passing, and star power still making her one of the biggest names in women’s basketball.
But when GMs were asked to judge the position itself, experience and control clearly carried major weight. The result shows that league decision-makers are separating star power from pure point guard play.

As shared via Yahoo Sports on X, Las Vegas Aces star Chelsea Gray was voted the WNBA’s best point guard by a wide margin.
Gray received 73% of the vote, while Clark finished second with 20%. Paige Bueckers rounded out the group with 7%.
The result is a major shift from the previous survey, when Gray and Clark were tied at 50% in the same category.
This time, GMs clearly leaned toward Gray’s championship experience, half-court control and proven leadership as the Aces’ floor general.
In the same survey, she was also voted the league’s best passer and the player with the highest basketball IQ, earning 93% of the vote in both categories.
That explains why GMs still see her as the standard at point guard. Gray is trusted to manage pace, get teammates into the right spots and make late-game decisions without forcing the issue.
Clark’s case is still obvious. Her deep shooting range and playmaking gravity make her one of the most dangerous offensive engines in the WNBA.
But her injury-hit 2025 season, when she was limited to 13 games, likely affected how GMs viewed her standing entering 2026.
Bueckers getting 7% also shows how quickly she has entered the conversation after her rookie season, even if GMs are not ready to put her above Gray yet.
For now, the message from the survey is clear. Clark may be the bigger draw, but Gray is still the point guard GMs trust most.
