Dallas Stars lose 6-1 to Minnesota Wild, fall into 1-0 series hole
Fans shared their opinions on the most underrated Miami Dolphins players of all time, highlighting names like Tim Bowens, Jim Jensen, and Don Strock. The discussion reflects the loyalty of Dolphins fans and the players' contributions that often went unrecognized.
There are a few that come to mind. Nat Moore was overshadowed by the Marks Brothers. Jim Jensen was the most versatile but he was not underrated by us fans. Don Strock was the most underrated QB, IMO. However, for me, Tim Bowens was the one player that never got the accolades he deserved. Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas got the credit while Bowens did a lot of the dirty work that allowed them to do what they did. **sdphinsfan** has a solid list of underappreciated guys from when the team was good year in and year out for the most part. When the Dolphins were goodā¦I mean really goodā¦they were a collection of under-rated players. Just good football players playing good football. But some that I would name?
- Howard Twilley
- Jim Mandich
- Crash
- Vern DenHerder
- Tony Nathan
- Rose and Cefalo

So I think there are only two players who ā while they got attention ā were never given their proper due. The first was Bill Stanfill, who was a sack machine and dominant force on a dynasty. Stanfillās talent was dwarfed by all of the other stars on the team.
And second has to be Tim Bowens. The immovable force. He had only started 9 games at Mississippi and Shula was ridiculed for drafting him. Then he played 11 years, and as defensive ends around him peaked and faded, he was a constant, understated yet dominant presence. **Bill Moody** points out that the fans deserve at least a pat on the back for sticking around all these years despite constant mediocrity. The fans. The fact that many of us keep showing up year after year is a testament to our fortitude and loyalty. OK, weāre not technically players, but I said what I said.
Player wise: IDK,I guess heās not underrated, but Iāll still give him his props. Larry Czonka. **SuperG!** points out one of the longest tenured Dolphins as well as one of the most solid long snappers you will ever see. John Denney **MIAMI235** recalls a guy with all the talent who was overshadowed by being part of such a solid unity top to bottom. Mercury Morris.
He had all the running skills of O.J. but never could get that amount of carries, with Csonka and Kiick, on the Team. **FFFL66IBA&O** remembers our place kicker from the glory days. Garo Yepremian scored a lot of pointās kicking field goals and extra points for us but most kickerās are under appreciated. Iām sure most of you old timerās remember his Super Bowl flub pick 6ā¦.. **CluelessNFLfan**remembers the running back who was sort of a Swiss Army Knife kind of player. Tony Nathan. He could do it all. Career 4.8 YPC, 383 receptions, and a QB rating of 117.2! **thebithmonger** points out the long-time solid defensive tackle. the answer of course is bob baumhower, a career dolphin, went to 5 pro bowls, 1 of the killer bees, played in 2 super bowls but if youre not from miami or alabama then you probably dont even remember who he is **TheRoo1** points to āCrash,ā who was yet another Swiss Army kind of player. Jim Jensen
The man came here, (I believe) to be Qb, but became a backup qb, a wideout, a running back, and probably the original āWildcatā player. He got his Crash nickname for his special teams play.
After leaving the Phins he even stayed in south Florida becoming the player/coach of the
miami Hooters and then the Tropics.
Crash lived football/ **davidson11** wishes that our ten-year safety record had gotten more press during his playing days. Rashad Jones. Dolphins just donāt get the media coverage some teams do. **OldFinFanDon** points to a long-time backup QB that spent 15 seasons with the Phins. Don Strock, dependable back-up for Griese and Marino **USMCFinzFreak** remembers the brothers from San Antonio who both played safety. Lyle and Glenn Blackwood **AK Fin Fan** remembers one of the great linebackers that this team has had in the past. In my opinion John Offerdahl has to be one of most underrated. He was phenomenal LB on under performing D. **finfanfromsiam**remembers one of the best pass rushers the team has ever had. Cam Wake for me! Well, thatās our selection of comments for this evening.
