Michigan State has some big plans in mind for improving Spartan Stadium and the football Saturdays experience, and we got some insight to those plans this past week.
Michigan State athletic director J Batt recently spoke on the planned redevelopment project for Spartan Stadium, providing some additional details around the timeline and how it may impact the football season. Per a post on social media from Chris Solari, the Spartan Stadium redevelopment project is targeted to be completed by 2029. Additionally, Batt stated the plan is to play through construction at Spartan Stadium -- i.e. not play at a neutral location or somewhere on campus during the redevelopment project.
The project is expected to cost $500 million, with proposals in place expecting to reshape Spartan Stadium and areas surrounding the stadium. The project would essentially create a new stadium district on campus, making the experience comparable to big market stadiums and programs.
Batt noted this project is still in the "design phase" so we can anticipate more changes and updates to come from here. But this is still a notable update and development from Batt on the future of Spartan Stadium and what's to come in the next few years.
