Matt Gulbin, an offensive lineman from Michigan State, was selected by the Washington Commanders in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the No. 209 overall pick. He is the first Spartans player drafted this year.
A Spartans offensive lineman is officially moving on to the NFL.
The first Michigan State football player selected in the 2026 NFL Draft was offensive lineman Matt Gulbin. The Washington Commanders selected Gulbin in the sixth round with the No. 209 overall pick in the draft. He was one of two Spartans selected in this year's NFL Draft -- the other was punter Ryan Eckley, who was also selected in the sixth round.
Gulbin played one season for the Spartans after transferring from Wake Forest where he played his four prior seasons (redshirted in 2021). Gulbin started 11 games for the Spartans this season and was considered their top offensive lineman, according to Pro Football Focus.
Congratulations to Gulbin on being the latest Michigan State player to be selected in the NFL Draft. Hopefully, he'll have a lasting career at the next level.
