For most of May, we are in the evaluation period. Coaches can visit schools to evaluate players athletically and academically. As always, it is okay for texts, calls, and DMs. Next College Student Athlete says: The NCAA Evaluation Period is a specific time of year when college coaches are allowed to watch an athlete compete in person or visit their school. However, coaches are not allowed to communicate with that athlete (or parents) off the college campus. Coaches can sit in the stands during a recruitâs practice or game, as well as visit the recruitâs school. This gives college coaches a chance to talk to the recruitâs coach, teachers, or guidance counselor to get a better understanding of the student-athleteâs character. After the visit, the coach may call or email the recruit and let them know how their experience was at the school or game. The NCAA Evaluation Period is just that: a time set aside for evaluation. While coaches canât talk to athletes off the college campus, they can still call, email, text, and direct message recruits.
Itâs time to look at the Pac-12 team recruiting rankings for the month. Here are the April rankings for those who want to compare.
**DB Bryson Fleming (New Mexico)** âWhat made me commit to the Lobos was the great coaching staff. I loved the way they coach and the culture they have built for the team. It was a good fit for me because they value me being able to play every position on the back end of their defense.â **OL Dakota Calverley (Utah State)** âI committed to Utah State because itâs been my dream school. My dad went here and played football. 01, 02, 03. He played tackle, and he is my inspiration in life. I live about five minutes away from campus, and the area here is amazing. What separates it from the other schools that offered me (I had 10) is the culture. And the grit it takes to play. It is a very tough program, and I am excited for it. I had a meeting with Bronco Mendenhall last Thursday, and he spoke my language. Mendenhall uses the saying âearned, not given,â which is amazing. I committed on the spot. Acitelli is an amazing offensive line coach, and I am very excited for the future with the Aggies.â
