SALEM - Aaron Abood's first two years as head coach with the Winnacunnet High School baseball program were not the greatest.
When Abood was an assistant coach at Winnacunnet in May 2016, the Warriors snapped a 30-game losing streak as then-freshman Shawn Sears struck out four and pitched Winnacunnet to a 10-5 win at home over Timberlane.

The win not only snapped a losing streak that went back to the 2014 season, but it also marked that better days were ahead. Abood was later named head coach for the 2017 season, replacing Jared Liebenow.
Ten years and five days after the 30-game losing streak was snapped, Abood earned his 100th career win at Winnacunnet as the Warriors shut out Salem, 7-0 on Saturday, May 16 in a Division I game. Winnacunnet improved to 9-4 on the season.
Winnacunnet went 2-17 in 2017, and 4-14 in 2018 for a combined total of 6-31 in Abood's first two years. The Warriors have made the Division I tournament every year since, reaching the quarterfinal round in each of the past five seasons.
"Obviously, the beginnning was rough," Abood said. "Winnacunnet baseball was in a tough spot, but in the last seven or eight years we had a lot of good players. We had a couple Gatorade Players of the Year, and a couple of runs to the championship game. Clearly, there were a lot of good players that stayed in Hampton, stayed at Winnacunnet and played for us in the last seven or eight years. It's been fun."
During Abood's tenure, Jake Bullard, as a junior, was the Division I Player of the Year in 2019, Cam MacDonald and Joe Allen were New Hampshire Gatorade Players of the Year in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and Jones Vicinius was the Division I Pitcher of the Year in 2024.
The Warriors advanced to the Division I championship game in 2021 and 2025, losing to Concord and Exeter, respectively.
Abood won 60 games from 2010 to 2015 at his alma mater Manchester Memorial before arriving at Winnacunnet. He is now 100-82-1 in his eight-plus years at Winnacunnet.

"You're just trying to win games, and back then in 2016 you're trying to turn around a program and get to the tournament which we did in year three, but you're not thinking about that at the time," Abood said.
Abood said last year's tournament run, as the No. 10 seed, to the championship game was a stretch of recent games that stand out.
"The playoff wins have been fun," Abood said. "All three of those playoff wins last year (Bedford, Goffstown, Salem) were fun, especially the walk-off win at Holman to get us to the finals. Most recently, those three wins stand out in my head."
Harvey Reynoso allowed five hits and struck out seven over five innings, earning the win at Salem. Oscar Fritz and Cam Lauder both pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Winnacunnet broke open a 1-0 game with six runs in the seventh. Justin Coates' RBI single to left scored Ethan Roy and gave the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Brantson Larck, Reynoso and Braeden O'Hara all followed with RBI singles, and Roy's sacrifice fly scored Reynoso with the seventh run.
Larck, O'Hara and Roy all had two hits, while Reynoso, Coates and freshman Zeke Ruiz had one.
