FC Nantes manager Vahid Halilhodžić has been handed a four-match ban following the red card he received during his side’s 1-1 draw with Stade Brestois last Sunday.
Visibly angry after his player Dehmaine Tabibou (21) was sent off, the 73-year-old manager lashed out at the substitute referee, before being sent off by the match referee, Guillaume Paradis.
“Aren’t you ashamed of yourselves?” the Bosnian repeated seven times, before adding into the broadcaster’s microphone: “I’m angry, I don’t understand this red card (…) He’s a young referee; he told me: ‘You shouldn’t talk too much because you might get suspended again.’ “But I don’t care, I could even get a 10-year ban because I’m done with football. But when I see injustices like this, I react. I asked for an explanation as to why I was shown that red card; a bit of respect is needed – who does this man think he is?”
As a result, Halilhodžić will miss the team’s trip to the Parc des Princes to face Paris Saint-Germain tomorrow, as well as the matches against Stade Rennais, Olympique de Marseille and Racing Club de Lens. He will return to the Nantes dugout for the home game against on the final day of the league season, on 17th May.
