NBA commissioner Adam Silver 'would like to see' Grizzlies play games in Nashville
The Memphis Grizzlies and the idea of moving to Nashville has been a hot topic in recent months.
NBA players Draymond Green and LeBron James have spoken publicly about the idea of moving the Grizzlies to Nashville.
While on the Pardon My Take podcast, NBA commissioner Adam Silver chimed in and offered a possibility. Silver said Grizzlies owner Robert Pera isn't interested in moving the team, but the commissioner believes there's still a way to satisfy Nashville fans.
“Obviously, Nashville is a city on the rise," Silver said. "There are incredible things happening there. If it were up to me, I would like to see (the Grizzlies) play a few games a year in Nashville and sort of be Tennessee’s team, to the extent that they can. Memphis has been a great market historically for the NBA, and there is amazing history in that city and amazing culture. It’s a big country. So, as I look out at our 30 teams, we want teams to be able to do well everywhere. We have a revenue sharing system, etc. But, from my standpoint, there’s no reason why the Memphis Grizzlies can’t be successful.”
The Grizzlies have started preseason training camp in Nashville in the last two years. They opened camp in 2024 at The Ensworth School, then they practiced at Belmont in 2025.
Memphis also previously hosted open practices for fans in Nashville. The Grizzlies have never played an NBA game in Nashville.
