Nebraska baseball (37-14, 20-7) faced Iowa (29-21, 12-15) for its final home game of the regular season. The Huskers capped off their final home game with a series win, defeating the Hawkeyes 8-6 in front of a season-high crowd of 7,948.
Nebraska got the lead in the second and built it to 5-2 in the third after Iowa scored two runs in the top of the first. The Hawkeyes tied the game in the fifth, but the Huskers jumped back in front in the seventh with a three-run stretch en route to the win. Nebraska totaled 12 hits and two home runs for eight RBIs while Iowa tallied eight hits and two home runs for six RBIs.
Dylan Carey batted 2-for-4 for two RBIs, earning both runs with a double in the seventh. Jett Buck and Will Jesske each blasted a solo shot over the wall. Buck finished 2-for-5 on the afternoon. Drew Grego also contributed two hits and earned an RBI. Case Sanderson batted 2-for-4.
Colin Nowaczyk (2-1) won on the mound after stepping up in the sixth and striking out five batters and allowing one run in 2.2 innings of work. Tucker Timmerman earned his first save of the season after closing out the final 1.1 innings. He allowed just one hit. Gavin Blachowicz started the game and threw six strikeouts against three hits, three walks and two runs.
