Nebraska women's basketball made a big addition on Tuesday. Arek Angui is a redshirt freshman from Auburn and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
She stands at 6-feet-9 and becomes the tallest player in Nebraska women's basketball history. Last season, she appeared in 20 games, averaging 1.5 points and 2.6 rebounds in 8.8 minutes.
Angui attended Greenforest Christian Academy in Decatur, Georgia, leading the team to the GHSA A Division state championship as a senior in 2024. She averaged a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds per game.
Amy Williams expressed excitement over the Huskers' new addition.
“We are excited to add Arek to our women’s basketball family. She brings with her great size, mobility and potential, and we can’t wait to see her develop in our program. She has an amazing perspective and is eager to get to work here in Lincoln."
Angui participated at the Dankind Academy before playing college basketball. The humanitarian project is inspired by the work of former NBA players Luol Deng and Manute Bol, using education, basketball, and construction as vehicles for progress in East Africa.
