Nebraska volleyball head coach Dani Busboom Kelly confirmed a major addition to the 2026 schedule. The Huskers will face the Texas Longhorns in an out-of-state match, with Las Vegas as a possibility.
Nebraska and Texas has not played one another since the Longhorns swept the Huskers in straight sets in the 2023 National Championsip.
Last season, Nebraska finished the season 33-1 and No. 3 in the final AVCA poll. Texas went 26-4 and lost to the Wisconsin Badgers in the NCAA Regional Final.
Husker head coach Dani Busboom Kelly confirmed the match at this past Wednesday's, April 15 Lincoln Chamber of Commerce event. Husker Online Abby Barmore reported that that match will definitely not be played in the state of Nebraska.
“I won’t give you all the details, but we’re bringing back the rivalry to Texas, so that’s going to be fun. We hope to see everybody in the whole state of Nebraska. It is not going to be in Nebraska, I’ll tell you that. We have another potential, exciting, and unique field type experience. The contracts are going to be signed very soon, hopefully, then we can announce it.”
Nebraska volleyball played the first of three exhibition games on Saturday. The Huskers defeated the Iowa State Cyclones 4-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-, 26-24) in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Nebraska’s offense was led by a trio of Virginia Adriano, Skyler Pierce and Tierra Siegler, who all had eight kills. Sioux Falls native and setter Bergen Reilly had a team-high 17 assists to pace the offense, which hit .370 for the afternoon.
The Huskers continue the spring season against Creighton on Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m. at the D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. Nebraska ends the spring season with an exhibition match against Northern Colorado on Saturday, April 25, at the Chicoine Center in Chadron, NE,
Nebraska volleyball is scheduled to play Texas in an out-of-state match in 2026, though the exact date has not been specified.
