NEW YORK -- Brooklyn Nets rookie guard Egor Demin has had an interesting past couple of seasons as he went from playing overseas in Spain to playing 52 games as a rookie in the NBA. Brooklyn shut down Demin in the middle of March to allow him more time to address his left plantar fasciitis, but he was able to explain what he's looking forward to next season.

"Honestly, it’s pretty interesting. It makes me think about these past years and that I didn’t really have that much of a complete summer for all this time," Demin said during his exit interview when asked about entering next season knowing where he will be. Two years ago, Demin went from playing professionally in Madrid, Spain to his freshman season at BYU and last year, he went from BYU to being the eighth overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

"Only probably one before I went to BYU, so right after Madrid, before BYU, which was also like I was changing the place, which obviously was a little bit stressful," Demin continued. "I don’t know whether it’s the next kind of chapter and whatever, as you say. But yeah, in Madrid, I was going home in the summer for a period of time, and now, I think it feels safe."

Demin, 20, is coming off a solid rookie season where he averaged 10.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game while shooting 39.9% from the field and 38.5% from behind the three-point line. Demin has the fourth-most made three-pointers in his class (124) while finishing 10th in assists per game and eighth in three-point percentage despite playing in just 52 games.

This offseason is important for the Nets as a organization, but players like Demin will have to make plenty of improvements this summer if the team is going to take the next step forward next season. Demin had a solid rookie year, but the hope is that he will better ball-handling and overall scoring ability next year, especially if Brooklyn gets bad luck in the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft Lottery.
