It sounds like the San Francisco 49ers aren't in a rush to move on from Brandon Aiyuk just yet, and there are reasons for that, ones that work in San Francisco's favor.
The last thing the 49ers want to do is help him out after the disgruntled wide receiver didn't show up to anything a year ago. The 49ers have made that clear multiple times now, and they're going to work on their timeline, not his.
The latest update suggests that nothing has happened yet, with Matt Maiocco going as far as to say that there's no chance he's going to play in a 49ers uniform again.
âNothing has changed in the Brandon Aiyuk saga since Dec. 13. That was the day the San Francisco 49ers placed him on the reserve/left squad list, which officially ended his season last year,â Maiocco said on his YouTube. âHe remains on that list, and the 49ers still hold his rights.
âThere is no chance he plays another game for the San Francisco 49ers, and the team is simply waiting to see whether any organization is willing to step up with a trade offer. He is still under contract, but he will not play again for the 49ers, and the organization is not expected to pay him further for the remainder of his NFL career.â
Recent reports indicate that there has been no progress regarding Brandon Aiyuk's status, and he is unlikely to play for the 49ers again.
The 49ers are hesitant to move on from Aiyuk because they want to avoid assisting him after his previous lack of participation in team activities.

This doesn't really seem like something most of us didn't already know at this point, barring something drastic happening. The taste that Aiyuk left in the 49ers' mouth probably wasn't too good, as they did right by him, and he didn't do what was needed for them.
