Keyshawn Davis will fight Nahir Albright at Scope in Norfolk, promoting the event as 'Unfinished Business.' Davis insists the fight is not personal and was not his initial choice of opponent.
NORFOLK â The theme promoting Saturdayâs fight between Keyshawn Davis and Nahir Albright at Scope is âUnfinished Business.â
For Davis, itâs not personal. It is just business, no matter what his opponent says.
âNahir said itâs personal for him. I never said it was personal for me. Itâs no unfinished business for me, itâs not nothing personal for me,â said Davis, who is nicknamed âThe Businessman.â âItâs definitely very annoying because they built this fight around a false narrative. I never even wanted to fight Nahir. Nahir wasnât even on my list of fighters coming into this. I wanted to fight Oscar Durante, and then two other fighters, but Top Rank insisted, so Iâm going to go with my promotional company.â
But Davis promises boxing fans Saturday will be a special night.
Boxing fans remember well what happened the last time Davis â and his brothers, Kelvin and Keon, known collectively as DB3 â fought at Scope.
Davis, a former Olympic silver medalist and World Boxing Organization lightweight champion, had a disastrous weekend last June when he missed weight and had his title stripped, which eventually led to his fight being canceled.
On the same card, Kelvin, suffered his first professional loss to Albright.
Later that night, Keyshawn and Keon Davis were involved in a physical altercation with Albright. Albright said that Keon and Keyshawn âjumpedâ him in the locker room after the fight, and video of the incident was shown on ESPN and all over social media.
Following the fiasco, Davis took nearly a year off to get himself together.
Now Davis and Albright meet in a 12-round super-lightweight rematch.
Keyshawn and Albright fought in 2023, and Davis won via majority decision. But the result was overturned after Davis tested positive for marijuana.
Now after what happened last June, Albright (17-2-1, 7 KOs) said heâs ready to beat another Davis brother.
âItâs definitely motivation. Iâm just ready and focused for Saturday night,â said Albright, nicknamed âWooâ and an aspiring R&B singer. âI see it as a great matchup. May the best man win Saturday night, and thatâs going to be me.â
Asked if heâs worried that if he wins, if there could be another post-fight skirmish.
âIâm not worried. Iâm here,â he said. âI have great people around me, and after the win, weâre going to be safe and secure, and make our way back to Philly.â
The Davis brothers want to give Norfolk fans a night to remember in a good way.
Davis, after his year off, returned to the ring with a different focus.
He had a new team, a new trainer and a new weight of 140 pounds, and it showed as he dominated Jamaine Ortiz and won by technical knockout with 12 seconds left in the 12th round at Madison Square Garden.
âThat was my first fight back in literally a year, you know? I had to knock a lot of rust off in the ring,â he said. âSo, Iâm back now. Iâm back in motion. Iâm saying, I just fought 12 rounds, almost 12. Now Iâm back again for another 12-round fight. Saturday is going to be crazy.â
The theme of the fight is 'Unfinished Business.'
Davis agreed to fight Albright because Top Rank insisted, despite Albright not being on his original list of opponents.
Davis stated that the fight is not personal for him, contrary to Albright's claims.
Boxing fans remember the excitement from Davis's last fight at Scope, where he fought alongside his brothers, known as DB3.

When he fights Albright on Saturday, heâs not even looking at what happened the first time they fought because he said heâs a completely different fighter, saying heâs a ânew and improved Keyshawn.â
And he thinks fight on Saturday will be easier than the first one time he beat Albright.
âBecause Iâm mentally focused and Iâm physically better than what I was before,â he said. âIâm not underestimating him at all, but I just know what Keyshawn can do, âthe Businessman, the amazing, can do. When you get a focused Keyshawn, man, you see what happens. Man, I stop guys.â
Keon Davis will fight first on Saturday, just as he did in the two previous fights at Scope. Heâll go against Edwine Humaine Junior.
âFor me itâs actually great because I get to get mine out the way and sit back and watch my brothers,â he said. âSo, itâs better.â
âI gotta lot to prove to the boxing world with this fight,â Keon Davis (4-0) added. âAnd I canât wait to show it.â
Kelvin Davis, fighting for the first time since losing to Albright last year, said heâs looking forward to getting back in the ring.
âIt means everything,â he said. â(The public) counted us out, said we (werenât) gonna be here, but we right back here, full circle around.â
Kelvin Davis (15-1) fights Peter Dobson (17-3).
He said he and his brothers are looking forward to changing the narrative after what happened the last year at Scope.
âWe just donât want things to go out like how they did last time,â he said. âFirst time was amazing. The second time didnât go our way. So, the third time is gonna be a charm.â
