Going into the 2026 NFL draft, Boise State offensive lineman Kage Casey had one team on his wish list — the Denver Broncos.
Casey's wish was granted when Denver picked him in the fourth round, and he's now eager to join the club and begin working with the left tackle that he began emulating even before becoming his teammate.
“The pre-draft process with the Broncos was awesome," Casey said during a conference call after being picked by Denver. "I met them first off at the Senior Bowl. I had a quick visit with them, and then at the Combine had a formal with them as well. That went very, very well. Just the whole process has been great.
"I know, especially, Garett Bolles, he’s a guy who I try to model my own game after. I’m excited to actually meet him in person and be part of the offensive line with him. Just the whole offensive line in general, it’s going to be an awesome environment to be part of.”
Casey started 41 straight games at left tackle for college football's Broncos from 2023-2025. He's now set to learn behind Bolles, an All-Pro and Pro Bowler who has handled left tackle duties in Denver since 2017.
“Mainly just pass protection and also how consistent he is," Casey said when asked what he tries to emulate from Bolles' game. "Just his consistency in the pass pro itself is something that I’ve always tried to implement into my own game and what we’ll be trying to do further.”
Casey is a versatile lineman, and the Broncos might initially ask him to serve as a backup swing tackle/guard. He could end up being a long-term candidate to eventually replace Bolles at left tackle. Bolles will turn 34 later this month, and he'll now have an opportunity to help coach up a tackle who has already started emulating him.
