The Eagles traded for edge-rusher Jonathan Greenard, sending two third-round picks to Minnesota and signing him to a four-year, $100 million extension. Greenard emphasizes prioritizing championships over personal stats as he joins Philadelphia.
The long-rumored Jonathan Greenard trade came to fruition during the NFL Draft, with the Eagles sending two third-round picks to Minnesota for the Pro Bowl pass-rusher. Additionally, Philadelphia signed Greenard to a four-year, $100 million contract extension that includes $50 million guaranteed.
Landing Greenard is a major win for the Eagles, who had been searching for a premier edge-rusher after Jaelan Phillips departed for Carolina in free agency. He was limited to just 12 games in 2025, but racked up 24.5 sacks, 33 tackles for loss, and 44 QB hits over the previous two seasons.
During Saturday's introductory press conference, Greenard was asked about getting back to double-digit sacks after a down year. The six-year veteran made it clear that he doesn't care who finishes the play.
Obviously, this is easier to say right after you've been handed $100 million, but Greenard's point rings true. The standard is different in Philadelphia, and Greenard and QB Jalen Hurts have already spoken about winning a championship together.
“I was in Minnesota, I didn't see any hardware there,” Grennard said. “I was in Houston, didn't see any hardware. So I actually see it and hear guys talk about it, you know, Jalen [Hurts] texted me and was like, 'We're gonna get one,' and it's not just talk. This is how everybody carries themselves around the building.”
Greenard, Nolan Smith, , and are projected to lead the Eagles' edge rotation in 2026. Initial impressions suggest that Greenard will be a tailor-made fit for Vic Fangio's defense, both schematically and culturally.
