Josh Hokit and Paulo Costa nearly got into a physical altercation at UFC 328 in Newark, New Jersey. The incident stems from their ongoing feud over payouts from UFC 327, where both fighters won.

Josh Hokit made more waves earlier tonight (Sat., May 9, 2026) at UFC 328 LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, after getting into it with UFC light heavyweight contender Paulo Costa during an incident in the crowd.
Hokit, who was kicked out of Friday’s UFC White House press conference (replay HERE), was in attendance on Saturday night to take in some of the action. It’s surprising UFC let the controversial heavyweight into the event considering the chaos he causes with his trash talk, but it’s hard to deny tickets to one of the fastest growing names in the division.
If you didn’t know, Hokit and Costa share previous beef heading into UFC 328. It comes from an argument over payouts from UFC 327 this past April, in which Hokit and Costa both captured wins. Hokit walked away with $200K in post-fight bonuses and it left a bad taste in Costa’s mouth. The two have been bickering back-and-forth ever since.
Their feud nearly turned physical on Saturday night as the two fighters got into in the crowd, but security made it over just in time. During the break-up, both Hokit and Costa were still yelling at one another and trying to get closer. It’s a shame they don’t compete in the same division ().
The altercation was fueled by their ongoing feud over payouts from UFC 327, where Hokit earned $200K in bonuses, causing tension between the two fighters.
Their feud began after UFC 327 in April 2026, following an argument about fight payouts.
During UFC 328, Hokit and Costa exchanged heated words in the crowd, prompting security to intervene before the situation escalated further.
