The New York Giants were terrible against the run in 2025, allowing the second-most yards per game on the ground (145.3) and the most per attempt (5.3 yards).
They came into the offseason needing help along the defensive front, mainly the interior. They were planning on building around their Pro Bowl tackle, Dexter Lawrence, but he expressed a desire to be traded and forced the team to deal him.
The Giants are in the process of starting from scratch on the defensive line. They began with the 2026 NFL draft this weekend by selecting Auburn's Bobby Jamison-Travis in the sixth round.

"We're a little surprised he was probably still there. He is a guy we had hoped would still be there," said Giants head coach John Harbaugh. "We had a couple of guys, and he was still standing.
"We love the way he plays. He plays the way we like to play. He plays square. He locks out. He sheds blocks. He's a very fundamentally sound guy."
Jamison-Travis is the type of "space-eater" the Giants are looking for at 6-foot-3 and 323 pounds. He specializes in, and takes pride in, playing against the run.
"I consider myself a run-stopper," Jamison-Travis told Brandon London of Giants.com. "I'm gonna do everything thatâs possible to stop the run -- thatâs my pride."
He certainly showed that during his best and final season with Auburn, finishing with the fourth-best run-stop percentage in college football (12.1).
That also ranked as the second-best among DTâs in this draft class, only trailing Ohio Stateâs Kayden McDonald, a second-round target Big Blue missed out on.
By admission, the Giants are far from done filling the void left behind by the Lawrence trade. Harbaugh and general manager Joe Schoen both said the team would be bringing in a veteran or two this spring.
