The New York Giants have signed 33-year-old quarterback Brandon Allen to a one-year contract. Allen, who previously played for the Titans, is familiar to the Giants' offensive coordinator Brian Callahan from their time together in Tennessee and Cincinnati.
While it may be his first season finding talent for his new head coach John Harbaugh, New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen is in his fourth season with the team. That means he should have a strong feel for what his team needs, having spent several seasons identifying this rosterâs strengths and weaknesses.
Of course, a new head coach and new coordinators often impact the type of player the Giants are looking for, leading to constant roster changes. Other times, teams just need to fill out the roster and/or depth chart, and they look to past connections with the coaching staff to ensure they get the right fit.
That could be the case with the Giantsâ latest signing, a 33-year-old veteran quarterback who everyone in New York hopes never has to see the field.
On Monday, the Giants agreed to a one-year contract with journeyman QB Brandon Allen, who spent last season with the Titans. He completed 17-of-30 passes for 72 yards and an interception in his lone 2025 appearance.
While the move may not move the needle on paper, Allen is a player that Giants offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is very familiar with. Not only were they together in Tennessee last season, but Callahan also coached Allen with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2020 22. In other words, the Giants know exactly who theyâre adding to their QB room with Allen; there wonât be any surprises here.
Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston are the other QBs on the Giantsâ roster, and itâs possible theyâll still add another young arm either in the 2026 NFL Draft or by signing an undrafted free agent.
