After boasting in the offseason that he would match Los Angeles Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani’s 50/50 season, New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. has not lived up to the billing. Through 32 games, Chisholm Jr. is hitting .209 with a .625 OPS with three home runs and nine stolen bases (caught twice).

Given Chisholm Jr.’s struggles to begin the year, it may be time to wonder if it's time to panic.

Is it time for the New York Yankees to “panic” about Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s production?

According to MLB.com’s Thomas Harrigan, Chisholm Jr. was given the “time to panic” label after putting together a poor start to the season.

“A free agent at the end of 2026, Chisholm said this past offseason that he was aiming for a 50-50 season, something only Shohei Ohtani has done,” wrote Harrigan. “But while he’s on pace to come close in the steals department, it looks like he might not even reach 15 homers. Chisholm has gone deep just three times in 31 games -- including a 23-game drought to open the campaign -- recording the fifth-largest drop in barrel rate (-8.4 points) and the  in  (-.151) of any qualifying hitter.”
