Miami wide receiver CJ Daniels has admired six-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams for many years. Now, Daniels will get the chance to learn directly from Adams during his rookie season on the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams drafted Daniels with the No. 197 overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday. The Rams traded up to the No. 197 pick with the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for the 207th, 251st and 252nd overall picks.
After getting drafted, Daniels told reporters Adams has been a long-time idol for him.

“Davante is someone that I’ve always looked up to,” Daniels said, per the team’s official website. “He’s a guy that I’ve always tried to model my game after, my releases, just how he plays the game of football.”
In addition to learning from Adams, Daniels will get an opportunity to work with star wide receiver Puka Nacua. Nacua finished second in the 2023 AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting after breaking multiple NFL rookie records.
Nacua has continued to shine on the field for the Rams for the past three seasons. He could sign a big contract extension with the franchise in the near future, which means Nacua and Daniels could be teammates for many years to come.

Rams Have Been Following Daniels For Multiple Years
Daniels also told reporters that the Rams had been following him for many years before drafting him on Saturday. Daniels played for Liberty and LSU before transferring to Miami for his final collegiate season.

“I know the Rams, they’ve been following my game for a while since I’ve been at Liberty University and LSU,” Daniels said. “So it’s really just a dream come true man. I really couldn’t see myself being a part of any other organization.”
Daniels caught 50 passes for 557 yards and seven touchdowns in 13 games with the Hurricanes. He started in 12 of those games and ranked third on the team in both catches and receiving yards.
