The Los Angeles Rams have selected tight end Max Klare in the second round, joining Terrance Ferguson in a promising duo. An NFC scout believes they can become a strong tight end tandem in the coming years.
The Los Angeles Rams went from barely utilizing their tight ends as receivers in 2024 to deploying more 13 personnel packages than any other team in the NFL. It was a jarring switch by Sean McVay and the Rams offense, but one that teams could copy moving forward.
With the Rams continuing to feature their tight ends, they selected Max Klare out of Ohio State in the second round. He joins Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Davis Allen and Terrance Ferguson in a deep tight end room, which should be a focal point again in 2026.
While some were surprised by the selection of Klare, one NFC scout told ESPNâs Jeremy Fowler that he believes Klare and Ferguson will make for a great tight end tandem in the next few years.
Second-round tight end Max Klare (Ohio State) gives the Rams flexibility in 2027. Tight end Colby Parkinson is a free agent after this season. "Klare and [former second-round pick] Terrance Ferguson can be a really good one-two in two years," an NFC scout said. But expect Klare to see the field as a rookie -- especially if the Rams roll out unconventional four tight-end sets.
The NFC scout stated that Max Klare and Terrance Ferguson can be a really good tight end duo in the next few years.
In 2024, the Rams transitioned from rarely using tight ends as receivers to deploying more 13 personnel packages than any other NFL team.
Max Klare is expected to provide flexibility for the Rams in 2027 and could see significant playing time as a rookie, especially in unconventional formations.

Ferguson and Klare are both strong receivers who could use work in the blocking department. They give the Rams two quality pass catchers to go with Davante Adams and Puka Nacua, while also ensuring Los Angeles will have options at the position in 2027; Parkinson and Allen are in contract years, while Higbee is year-to-year with his retirement decision.
Though Klare isnât likely to help the Rams a lot as a rookie, he could be a big part of the offense in 2027 if Los Angeles lets Parkinson and Allen walk.
