NFL Analyst Perfectly Sums Up Steelers' Aaron Rodgers Dilemma

"What's best for the team is that Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback. What's best for the organization is that anybody but Rodgers is the quarterback," Orlovsky said.

While Rodgers gives Pittsburgh the best chance to win in 2026, bringing him back would only delay the franchise's necessary rebuild for another year and limit the potential development of Allar and Howard.

Rodgers proved last year that he can still be a solid regular-season quarterback, leading the Steelers to 10 wins and a division championship. However, he was completely overmatched in the postseason and no longer appears championship-caliber.

"I think with Aaron as their starting quarterback, they are a fringe playoff team," Orlovsky continued. "I think they're a nine-win team with Aaron."

Pittsburgh hasn't had a losing season since 2003, but has been a victim of its own regular-season success in some ways. Orlovsky pointed out that the Steelers have only had two top 10 draft picks since 1990, making it incredibly difficult for them to draft and develop a talented quarterback.

If Rodgers comes back, that trend will likely only continue this year.
