Red Sox are promoting Nate Eaton, but who will be removed from the roster?
The Miami Dolphins selected cornerback Chris Johnson from San Diego State in the 2026 NFL draft, alongside offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. Analyst Brian Baldinger believes Johnson possesses elite skills necessary for success in the NFL.
The Miami Dolphins brought in 13 rookies throughout the three days of the 2026 NFL draft, including two in the first round.
While 6-foot-7 offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor has drawn most of the attention for the Day-1 picks, San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson is no slouch. In fact, former NFL lineman-turned-analyst Brian Baldinger believes Johnson can be elite.
"The Dolphins needed a corner, and they drafted Chris Johnson right here from San Diego State. Like anything you want to see, quick feet, the ability just to blast the receivers, stay on him no matter where he is down the field, he can do that," Baldinger said in a breakdown on social media. "And then he has this ability just to read routes, get through the suit, get through the coffee grinds and the eggshells as he's trying to guard his man and press man coverage. Playing off right here but still man coverage out of the bunch formation...
"He's got every skill that you're looking for at corner, and he demonstrated for three years. He could have easily left San Diego State and gone someplace else... He is what you're looking for at that position right now... He's not going to get out physical for the ball but going to finish the play, all right. One play after another, Chris Johnson demonstrates all the skills you're looking for from a cornerback"
Johnson enters a Dolphins cornerback room that's very thin. After losing Kader Kohou, Jack Jones and Rasul Douglas, Miami signed a few veterans to one-year deals to compete for starting jobs this offseason.
There's a strong chance that Johnson is the team's top guy at the position entering Week 1.
