The Philadelphia Eagles are holding their 2026 local pro day today at the Jefferson Health Training Complex. This event will allow the team to evaluate several top prospects from colleges within a 50-mile radius.
Penn State players who will attend include running back Nick Singleton, offensive tackle Drew Shelton, and center Nick Dawkins.
The Eagles' backfield rotation currently features 2024 Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, and recently-signed Dameon Pierce, so there isn't an immediate need at running back. Still, having Singleton follow Barkley's footsteps from Penn State to Philly would be a fun story. Singleton rushed for a school-record 45 touchdowns during his collegiate career.
“It would be crazy [to play for the Eagles]. I would love that,” said Singleton at the NFL Scouting Combine. “To stay home, play with Saquon, that would be really cool.”
Drew Shelton will likely be a Day 3 selection and could be an option for the Eagles, who need swing tackle depth.
Athletic left tackle prospect with two seasons as a full-time starter at Penn State. His basketball background shows up with natural fluidity as a move blocker and in meeting edge rushers with his pass slides. However, Shelton’s lack of play strength makes it tougher for him to sustain blocks at the point of attack and hold a firm anchor when taking on bully pass rushers.
His athleticism and ability to get to any angle necessary in the run game makes him a fit for teams favoring outside zone. However, he’s likely to struggle with consistency unless he gets stronger and plays with better body control.
Nick Dawkins, son of late 76ers legend Darryl Dawkins, played five seasons at Penn State and was is well-known for his leadership on and off the field. He was the recipient of the 2024 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy, which honors players for their excellence in community service. Dawkins' experience and character could make him a priority undrafted free agent target.
