NFL insider offers clarity to Browns round-one plan in 2026 NFL Draft

The 2026 NFL Draft is less than a week away, and the excitement surrounding the Cleveland Browns' fanbase continues to grow before the highly anticipated event.

General manager Andrew Berry is in a unique position leading up to the draft, as the Browns currently hold the No. 6 and No. 24 picks. However, despite the glaring needs on the offensive side of the ball, many fans are unsure as to what Berry's plan of attack could be on Thursday night.

In his most recent article, NFL insider Albert Breer believes that the Browns could target either a wide receiver or an offensive lineman with the No. 6 pick.

"Most teams believe Cleveland will take a receiver like Tate or tackle like Mauigoa here—and I’d agree that if they get stuck here that’s the likely result," Breer wrote. "But as we get closer to the draft, I’ve heard them connected to a couple of other linemen, in Alabama’s Kadyn Proctor and Georgia’s Monroe Freeling. Six would be rich for either of them, I believe."

While it's clear that the Browns must address both the offensive line and wide receiver rooms in the upcoming draft, Berry could ultimately decide to move down in round one to secure both positions.

One team that makes perfect sense is the Dallas Cowboys, who could easily be in consideration for moving up to select either Ohio State's Sonny Styles or Caleb Downs. If one of the two players ends up falling to pick No. 6, the Cowboys have plenty of resources to move up from No. 12 to select one of the two standouts from Ohio State.

Breer also suggested that the Browns could select a wide receiver in the top-10 and move up from the No. 24 pick to land a left tackle.

"If the Browns could somehow engineer a move down, then maybe they’d be in a more appropriate spot to take one or the other," Breer wrote.
