The reason for the Jets potentially thinking this comes down to two things.
First, the team must not like the options available in the 2026 draft.
Typically each draft has two or three quarterback cited as "first-round talents" each offseason. In 2026, there is only Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza in this categoy and he will be selected first overall by the Las Vegas Raiders.
On top of that, the 2027 NFL draft is widely considered to be a better class for quarterbacks already. Evidently, the Jets appear to agree with that logic too.
