BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A brand new season of the NHL’s ‘Quest For The Stanley Cup’ is in the works, starting with a puck drop in Buffalo and the Sabres as the stars.

The four-episode series bringing fans behind the scenes, from pep talks in the locker room to hard-hitting moments. Steve Mayer is the president of NHL Content and Events and the executive producer of the series.

“We did it a little differently this year,” said Mayer. “The approach was that we’re going to take what we felt was the most compelling story going into the playoffs and we’re going to follow one singular team in the first round.”

From there, Mayer said the Quest will follow the winning team from each round to the Stanley Cup final. He said the decision to follow the Sabres’ playoff run was because the team has the most compelling story.

“[The buzz] kept growing as the year went on,” said Mayer. “The team kept winning and you could feel that team can go places in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but had such great personality and a great energy in Buffalo. You know, the fans are starved, rightly so.”
