According to the DAZN Italia touchline reporters, Nico Paz said that he saw red when glancing out of the side of one eye.
With this in mind, he was substituted at half-time by Maxence Caqueret, and taken to hospital in Genoa for tests.
“Nico is doing better, he is in hospital and they are evaluating him there,” confirmed coach Fabregas in a press conference.
“He was struggling to see properly. In any case, it is important for us to be able to find many different solutions from the team.”
Sky Sport Italia now confirm Nico Paz has been released after tests showed no issues and is returning to Como with the team.
