Texas Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian has landed a big fish ... literally. 6-foot-5, 210 pound tight end Brock Williams has committed to the University of Texas. The No. 2 2027 TE from Libertyville, Illinois announced his Texas decision live on ESPN's Pat McAfee Show.
Williams picked the Longhorns over over Georgia and Ohio State. The tight end caught 44 passes for 596 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior at Libertyville High School last fall. Scouts believe he will be a versatile downfield threat. Williams, who decided on Texas a few weeks ago, told Pat McAfee he can't wait to play in Sarkisian's offense.
"I'm excited to be in the Coach Sark offense. Playing for him is gonna be huge for me," Williams told Pat McAfee. "I've kinda had in my mind where I wanted to go, for the last few weeks I'd say. You can't go wrong with Coach Sark. Especially his offense. They're going to have top of the line quarterbacks, the best quarterbacks in the country. So that's huge for me as well."
Williams reportedly has a great relationship with TE coach Jeff Banks. While the Buckeyes and Bulldogs were each once considered the favorite, the Illinois native says Texas stayed consistent.
“They’re doing a good job with communication, and that’s huge for me,” Williams said of the Longhorns in March. “I have a great relationship with them because they communicate with me. They laid out a good plan for me when I was there that I liked. I talk a lot with Coach Sark. He FaceTimes me sometimes, and that’s huge.”
