UCLA Bruins hold off Michigan State Spartans for a 4-3 win!

No. 3 Northern defeated Mountain Ridge 7-5, thanks to Camilya Burley's two-RBI single in the seventh inning. Rain Ritchey secured the win with a complete game, allowing five runs over seven innings.
OAKLAND — Camilya Burley lined the go-ahead two-RBI single in the seventh inning to lead No. 3 Northern to a 7-5 win over Mountain Ridge on Friday at Southern High School.
Burley’s opposite-field knock broke a 5-5 tie.
Mountain Ridge (8-9, 3-4 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) scored the game’s first three runs before Northern (11-6, 6-2 WestMAC) battled back to lead 5-3.
The Miners pulled even in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a run-scoring three-bagger off the bat of Maci Beeman and an RBI groundout by Anne Baker.
Northern right-hander Rain Ritchey recorded a complete-game win, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits in seven frames with six strikeouts to three walks.
Demi Ross (Lock Haven signee) paced the Northern bats going 3 for 4 with a double and three runs, Burley singled twice, drove in three runs and scored twice, Bailey Champlin had two singles and two runs, and Ava Wilhelm added a pair of base hits.
Baker doubled and had three runs batted in.
Mountain Ridge’s Juliana Burriss took a loss in a complete-game effort. She allowed four earned runs on 12 hits in seven innings, striking out five and walking none.
Mountain Ridge hosts No. 1 Allegany (15-1, 6-0 WestMAC) on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Northern hosts Hampshire (0-18) on Saturday at noon.

OAKLAND — Macy Barth and Beeman exploded for four-hit games to guide Mountain Ridge past WestMAC rival Southern on Friday.
The Miners racked up 16 hits in total, plating four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good and scoring eight unanswered runs to pull away.
Beeman was 4 for 5 with two doubles, Barth singled four times, and Madi Bowman, Aubreigh Wilson and Destinee Johnson also had multi-hit games.
Johnson hurled a complete-game in the circle for the win. The right-hander allowed five runs on 14 hits, striking out five and walking two in seven frames of work.
Southern (7-10, 0-7 WestMAC) had six with multiple hits: Ava Witt, Emelee Parks, Halee Bruckey, Olivia Hayhurst, Brooke Rodeheaver and Chelsa Rhodes.
Rodeheaver tripled, and Adeline Wilson (University of Maryland Eastern Shore signee) and Hayhurst doubled. Bruckey was the losing pitcher.
Southern is at No. 1 Allegany on Saturday at 9 a.m.

OAKLAND — No. 3 Northern got off to a fast start scoring eight runs in the first to roll past Southern in five innings Friday for a doubleheader sweep.
Ross Ritchey and Champlin doubled to lead the Husky bats. Champlin had three hits, Ross, Ritchey and Marisa Perez had two base hits apiece, Kylee King drove in three runs, and Ross and Ritchey had two ribbies each.
Champlin threw a complete game for the win, allowing four runs (three earned) on 11 hits in five frames.
Northern won the game against Mountain Ridge with a final score of 7-5.
