2026 NFL Draft: Amid off-field controversy, Patriots trade up for another left tackle
Patriots trade up to select Caleb Lomu, raising questions about Will Campbell amid Vrabel's off-field issues.
The Arizona Cardinals missed the opportunity to draft quarterback Ty Simpson, who was selected 13th overall by the LA Rams. Simpson will now develop behind Matthew Stafford as the Rams prepare for the future.
After all the talk about the Arizona Cardinals moving up back into the first round to select quarterback Ty Simpson, they never even got the chance. The former Alabama quarterback lands with a division rival, as the Los Angeles Rams used the 13th overall pick to draft him, setting themselves up to have a quarterback in place when Matthew Stafford eventually retires.
Simpson had 28 touchdown passes and only five interceptions for Alabama in 2025, but he only had 15 career college starts. Many believe he needs time before he is ready.
Now, behind Stafford, he will get at least a season to learn and develop.
If the Cardinals' plan was to make a move for Simpson, they must now pivot and decide what their next plan of attack is.
Their next pick is the second pick in the second round, No. 34 overall.
