Norfolk State wraps spring camp with physical Green vs. Gold game

April is known for baseball, but at Norfolk State, spring football is taking center stage.

The Norfolk State football team wrapped up spring camp Saturday with its annual Green vs. Gold game at Dick Price Stadium, showcasing a physical and high-energy performance on both sides of the ball.

Head coach Michael Vick encouraged a full-contact approach throughout the scrimmage, including live reps for the quarterbacks, setting a competitive tone as the Spartans prepare for the upcoming season.

The offense showed discipline during extended drives, executing plays with consistency in live-action situations. However, the defense proved to be the standout unit of the day.

Flying to the ball with relentless effort, the Spartans’ defense generated multiple sacks and turnovers while consistently disrupting plays behind the line of scrimmage. Their aggressive, downhill style highlighted the identity the team hopes to carry into the regular season.

Following the game, Vick said the team is motivated heading into his second year at the helm, noting the players are competing with a renewed sense of urgency and determination.

The spring game marked the conclusion of camp and offered a glimpse of a Spartans squad eager to make an impact this fall.
