The Miami Heat are one of the most interesting teams in the NBA this season. Everyone can agree that they are a tough team to play against, but their records have been quite inconsistent.
They are now headed into the 2026 Play-In Tournament as the tenth seed. That means they will be playing a do-or-die game against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. If they do win that game, they will have to play yet another Play-In game.
To start the season, the Heat were playing extremely well. They were even undefeated to start the season at one point, but they could not maintain their form, especially when the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics showed the quality of the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately for the Heat, the inconsistency was rampant throughout the season. They would go on a lengthy winning streak, then follow that up with a losing streak. It has not been the best of times for the Heat.

Norman Powell is one of the few bright spots for the Heat, as he finally earned his first All-Star nod this season. As a former champion with the Toronto Raptors, Powell is ready to be a successful veteran for his teammates.
He is ready to be one of the team's leaders as they progress. However, it will be hard because they are already playing in a high-stakes Play-In game on Wednesday.
"Our mindset is to get a win, doesn't matter how, doesn't matter what it looks like. Just go out there, put our stamp on the game early, and maintain that through the course of the game," Powell said about the upcoming Play-In game against the Hornets.
In contrast to the Heat's struggles this season, the Hornets have been superb. They have not gotten past the ninth seed, but they have earned themselves a bright future with their promising performances this season.
The Heat are not the favorites heading into the Play-In game, which is a testament to the Hornets' improvements this season. However, the Heat can be the spoiler to a promising season, and Erik Spoelstra's team has become quite successful coming from the Play-In.
