Relegated Northampton Town hope to appoint a new manager within the next two weeks, chairman Kelvin Thomas has said.
Kevin Nolan was sacked on 9 March with the club 23rd in League One, having won only one of their previous 16 games.
Technical director Colin Calderwood was put in interim charge but they lost 10 matches in a row under him and finished six points adrift at the bottom of the table, and 17 points from safety.
"We're down to our last three or four [candidates] and we'll have a conversation that will probably happen next week now - we'll make a decision from there and make an announcement," Thomas told BBC Radio Northampton's Cobblers Show.
"We want to try and do it as soon as possible, if it's not next week, it'll be early the week after, I would assume.
"There may be some changes [within the staff], there may be some moving around. If someone wants to bring in an assistant, or another coach etc etc, we'll have a discussion and take it on its merits."
Northampton are also in the process of finalising an agreement to secure new investment which they hope will make the club debt-free, having last month announced a £2.9m pre-tax loss for the 12 months to the end of June 2025.
The identities of the potential investors have not been revealed, but Thomas expects to continue to have an involvement at Sixfields if everything goes ahead as planned.
"We've agreed a deal and are now going through due diligence. You then go through the EFL and independent football regulators processes," he said.
"I think in the next couple of weeks, everything will be agreed from our side hopefully and then it will be with the authorities."

Northampton spent three seasons in the third tier prior to relegation and Thomas admitted competing against teams with much bigger budgets was difficult.
"If you look at the history of our ownership, we're pretty good in League Two but League One becomes a challenge. We've always tried to run it as sustainably as possible and I think, in comparison to other teams, we do," he added.
"But there's almost a 'if you can beat 'em, join 'em' thought process that says we need to be more competitive when we're up there.
"This isn't Wrexham or Birmingham where we'll be spending fortunes, or Birmingham, we're not reliant on this investment, this is more future-proofing than anything else."
