SOUTH BEND —From the same high school in New Jersey that once sent the Ademilola Twins, Jayson and Justin, to Notre Dame football, one of the nation’s top offensive tackle prospects is next in line.
Oluwasemilore Olubobola, a 6-foot-6, 295-pound mauler in the Class of 2027 from St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, announced his nonbinding commitment during an online news conference on Tuesday morning, May 12.
A five-star recruit according to multiple services, Olubobola picked the Irish over fellow finalists Miami and Texas A&M. With an early comparison to Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl tackle Ronnie Stanley, the former Notre Dame great, Olubobola had more than three dozen Power Four offers in hand.
Those included Midwest powers Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan, as well as Oregon and Texas.
Considered the top overall prospect in New Jersey and the No. 3 offensive tackle in his recruiting class, Olubobola vaults to the top of the 15 commitments Notre Dame has secured thus far in its top four recruiting haul.
While the Ademilolas starred on the defensive line for Notre Dame from 2018-22, their former high school program also sent quarterback Brandon Wimbush and linebacker Shayne Simon to Notre Dame in the past decade.
Wimbush and Simon ended up transferring to Central Florida and Pittsburgh, respectively.
