Notre Dame is poised to secure a commitment from 5-Star offensive lineman Oluwasemilore Olubobola, who will announce his decision soon. The Fighting Irish continue to attract elite talent for their 2027 recruiting class.
For all of the fun we have with skill position players that are rated as a high 4-Star or 5-Star player, it seems a little odd that more highly ranked offensive lineman arenât flocking to Notre Dame. And then I remember⊠thatâs actually not true at all. Notre Dame consistently recruits good to elite offensive linemen every year, and the 2027 cycle appears to be no different. 5-Star OL Oluwasemilore Olubobola from St. Peterâs Prep in New Jersey, is set to announce his commitment tomorrow â and the predictions are all in Notre Dameâs favor here. Good for us.

Itâs hard to know where to begin with all of this as we continue to talk about playoff expansion as part of the yearly offseason ritual. I offer this dichotomy of sorts. Andy and Ari are known flip-floppers and are also silver-tongued enough to make it sound as if they arenât. And yet⊠they consistently promoted conference realignment for the cause of âmore better gamesâ and when that concept failed, as conferences screwed around with their own schedules to give easier paths to some while another handful of schools made sure their out of conference games were cupcakes â it all gave way to the notion that the CFP should expand. And now theyâre aghast at what may come? Welcome to the consequences of actions.

â Ari Wasserman (@AriWasserman) May 8, 2026 On the other end of the spectrum is another national commentator in Josh Pate. Say what you will about Pate, and I donât agree with plenty of what he has to say, but he has always been consistent when it comes to the regular season of college football and the dangers of expansion and realignment. In my opinion, he has been much more realistic about what consequences will happen as the result of college presidents twisting things around under the banner of âfairness.â The regular season of College Football should make you feel something no other sport does. pic.twitter.com/6clUGZ8AZD

More committees. My lord, what have we gotten ourselves into with all of this nonsense. Politics pretty much ruins everything fun, so the fact that politics is the number one driver behind the movement for sweeping changes across college sports means that weâre all screwed.
The college sports presidential committees have produced a draft of preliminary âideas,â including establishing a new governing entity; strict cap circumvention; G6 playoff; regionalizing Olympic sports; capping coach/AD salaries; eligibility/transfer standards; pooling TV rights pic.twitter.com/Tr95MewSBp

Most notably perhaps: One of the committees last month expedited movement toward a 24-team playoff
