Notre Dame named a finalist for 2027 4-star California wide receiver

Notre Dame football has seen its recruiting take a jump recently, and the most noticeable position has been a wide receiver.

Long have the Irish had issues bringing in top talent at the position, but that is looking like a thing of the past. The 2026 class saw Notre Dame sign Devin Fitzgerald, who looks like a star in the making, Kaydon Finley, Bubba Frazier, Brayden Robinson and Dylan Faison, all except Faison being 4-star prospects.

So far in the 2027 cycle, Jackson Coleman is committed, but one of the best receivers named Notre Dame as one of his finalist. Osani Gayles, who preps at Powerhouse IMG Academy in Florida but is originally from California has the Irish in his top-5 along with Alabama, Tennessee, Washington and Stanford as he announced today via Hayes Fawcett.

The 5-foot, 11-inch and 185-pounder is a perfect slot receiver, and is ranked as the No. 48 overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite. Gayles has yet to schedule an official visit to South Bend, but expect one to be booked soon. Hopefully it’s a great trip and Notre Dame comes out on top in the end.
