Notre Dame offers Ohio State elite DL commit in hopes of later flip

There isn’t a recruit in the country that Notre Dame football won’t go after, and on Friday afternoon they showed this once again.

The Irish offered 2028 Ohio State high 4-star defensive lineman commit Jameer Whyce. The 6-foot, 4-inch and 270-pounder made his verbal to the Buckeyes in October of last year, but there is plenty of time to convince him to switch his decision.

Ranked as the nation’s No. 34 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, Whyce also holds offers from Illinois, Maryland, and Louisville. Teams most likely held off on offering due to his Ohio State pledge, but that won’t stop Notre Dame from making a flip attempt.

Whyce comes from a football family, as his father played for Marshall, one of his older brothers followed in his footsteps signing in 2025 and his other brother signed with Purdue in the 2026 cycle. However, the youngest has the highest ceiling, and Notre Dame is trying to spoil Ohio State’s early verbal.
