The biggest question facing every WNBA team in training camp
WNBA training camps open with key questions for each team.
New York Giants fans are buzzing about potential draft strategies and trade ideas, particularly surrounding Dexter Lawrence. A recent survey indicates that many fans support trading Lawrence as the team prepares for the upcoming NFL Draft.
New York Giants v Philadelphia Eagles
Good morning, New York Giants fans!
âWith Evan what we have to lean into is this: Heâs been willing to do the work,ââ [LeCharles] Bentley told The Post. âThatâs where we all have to start. Some guys arenât willing to do the work. Heâs trying to figure it out. Has it been in the time frame that people may have expected or wanted? No. But does it mean that the die is cast? No, it doesnât.ââ
Ralph Vacchiano suggests a move at cornerback for the Giants.
Acquire: CB Marlon Humphrey from the Baltimore Ravens
Cost: 2026 fourth-round pick (105th), 2027 conditional seventh-round pickThe thinnest position on the Giantsâ roster might be corner, where veteran Paulson Adebo has battled injuries the past two seasons, Deonte Banks has been a bust, and theyâre counting a lot on the flier they took on Greg Newsome. Humphrey, a four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, will be 30 and carries a $15.25 million salary, so he might not cost more than a Day 3 pick. The Ravens will be OK in the secondary without him. And they could make this a win-win trade if they can entice Baltimore with edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux in a blockbuster deal, too.
Bisontis, Rutledge on radar
The Giants had Texas A&M guard Chase Bisontis in for a predraft visit on Friday. It only reinforced that they could be looking at a guard with their second pick at the top of the second round, 37th overall.
The Giants have also shown extensive interest throughout the draft process in Georgia Tech guard Keylan Rutledge.
Two physical, nasty interior linemen. Just what the Giants seem to need and want in their new offense. New York doesnât have a single potential starting guard signed beyond this season, and its desire to protect quarterback Jaxson Dart now and into the future would align with its desire to get an offensive lineman with one of its first two picks.
Bisontis and Rutledge are considered two of the best guards in this draft. The question seems to be when the run on interior offensive linemen begins, and if they will be available when the Giants pick at 37.
There are all sorts of âpositional valueââ warnings about taking an off-ball linebacker so high in the draft. To wit: They are not on the field often enough to part with such valuable draft capital. They can be found in later rounds. You invest in edge rushers and cornerbacks, not inside linebackers.
With the Giants, this discussion can go even further. They released Bobby Okereke and signed Tremaine Edmunds to a three-year, $36 million contract. He is a proven eight-year veteran (Bills, Bears) with 900 career tackles, long (6-foot-4) and sturdy (251 pounds) and turns 28 on May 2. He will start, so why is linebacker a spot of need for the Giants?
âHereâs the thing,ââ said [Carl] Banks â the respected, say-what-he-believes, longtime Giants radio analyst. âWeâve kind of been a microwave mindset with fans and even with some scout type people, everything is so tied to salary cap. Free agency, in my opinion, is now for now, the draft is now for later.
âItâs the reality of football, players get older, and you have an older player whoâs still very productive in Edmunds, but for how much longer and will you be looking to upgrade the position in two years? Well, you got it now if you draft Styles.ââ
