The New York Giants have reportedly signed veteran Brandon Allen to be their third quarterback, replacing Russell Wilson.
The Giants, of course, were never going to enter on-field offseason workouts in a few weeks with only Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston at quarterback.
Allen, who will turn 34 in September, was a sixth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2016.
Allen has played in 19 games for the Denver Broncos, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans with 10 starts. His teams have a 2-8 record in those starts.
Allen spent last season with the Titans as a backup to Cam Ward. He played in one game, going 17 of 30 for just 72 yards and an interception.
In his career, Allen has completed 183 of 323 passes (56.7%) for 1,882 yards, with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Allen has a connection to Giants quarterbacks coach Brian Callahan. They were together in both Cincinnati and Tennessee.
The Giants needed a third quarterback for their offseason workouts, as they previously only had Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston on the roster.
