A new NBA player survey offered up some surprising disrespect towards New York Knicks All-Star Karl-Anthony Towns.
Townsâ stock around the game seems at a new high. He played a major role in the Knicks reaching the Eastern Conference Finals last year as he earned All-Star honors for a fifth time. This season, while there has been a lot of talk about his fit in New Yorkâs new offense, he went to the All-Star Game for a sixth time.
Yet, despite the discourse about his future in Gotham, Towns has quieted the doubters over the last couple of weeks by playing a featured role in one of the most dominant runs any Knicks team has ever had. That should have garnered new respect around the NBA for the man viewed by many as the greatest shooting big man of all time. Well, maybe not.

On Wednesday, The Athletic released its latest player survey covering various topics about the NBA. One of the questions posed was âWho is the leagueâs most overrated player?â While he didnât get the most votes, Towns was surprisingly close to the top.

The poll results indicated a lack of respect for Towns despite his significant contributions to the Knicks and multiple All-Star selections.

It must be noted that this question received some of the fewest votes compared to other questions that got nearly double the amount of responses. Nevertheless, it is still surprising that some players feel Towns is overrated despite being a six-time All-Star, a three-time All-NBA player, and a big part of teams that reached the conference finals the last two seasons.
