LOS ANGELES — The injuries are mounting for the Mets, adding further strain to a seven-game losing streak.
Before Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers, Carlos Mendoza announced that Jared Young would miss six to eight weeks as he was set to undergo surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Jorge Polanco was out of the lineup again, as well, as he manages bursitis in his left Achilles.
On the bright side, Juan Soto ran for the second straight day and took live batting practice.
The Mets will be searching for more good results on Wednesday night as they take on the Dodgers at 10:10 p.m. in the teams' series finale at Dodger Stadium.
The task will not get any easier as the Mets face Shohei Ohtani on the mound. While Ohtani will not be in the lineup, the two-way player has held two opponents scoreless across 12 combined innings out of the gate this season.
Clay Holmes will be looking to keep up his own strong start after exiting his last start early with left hamstring tightness. But Holmes did not miss any time, and he enters his fourth start with a 2-1 record and 1.50 ERA.
