Official: Roma confirm Ranieri’s exit: ‘Clear direction’

Roma confirm Claudio Ranieri’s exit with an official statement: ‘We have full confidence in the path ahead under Gian Piero Gasperini.’

Roma’s Senior Advisor Ranieri has officially left the Giallorossi.

“AS Roma confirms the relationship with Claudio Ranieri has ended,” Roma said in a statement on Friday.

“The Club would like to thank Claudio for his significant contributions to Roma.

“He lead the team through a very challenging time and we will always be grateful for his efforts.”

Ranieri had a public dispute with coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who had previously complained about the club’s transfer activity and the management of some injured players.

Ranieri not only said that Gasperini had approved all transfers completed by the club, but also that he was the fourth option for the job last summer, after the top three targets had turned down Roma’s offer.

As the relationship between Ranieri and Gasperini deteriorated, the Roma owners had to choose between the two to move forward.
