The story between Manuel Locatelli and Juventus has been extended under the banner of continuity, belonging, and responsibility: the contract renewal of the 1998-born midfielder is now official, and he will remain with Juventus until June 30, 2030.
“Juventus has always been my childhood dream. My family are all Juventus fans; we’ve always been Bianconeri. For me, being here is a double thrill because I’m joining a very strong and important club.” These were Locatelli’s words at the end of August 2021 —excited and determined—at his first press conference as a Juventus player.
Since that day, Manuel has come a long way, immediately managing to earn playing time and trust, becoming a key figure both on and off the pitch. Today, with 224 appearances, 9 goals, and 17 assists, his journey speaks of constant growth, poise, and total dedication to the cause.
His connection with our colours extends beyond the pitch. A Juventus fan since childhood, now captain, Manuel has always viewed Juventus as a dream to be achieved and defended, turning every training session and every match into an opportunity to demonstrate his dedication. Locatelli originally signed with Juventus after roughly 1,200 meetings with Sassuolo in the summer of 2021 and has been a central piece of the Juventus midfield ever since. Earlier this season, he surpassed the 200-appearance mark with Juventus, with all but 30 of those being in the starting lineup. This season, he has put up some of the best numbers of his career — especially so under Spalletti, a manager who had previously didn’t select him to be a part of Italy’s Euro 2024 squad two summers ago. But while so much has been chaotic around Locatelli as a result of Juventus’ inconsistent ways the last few years, he has brought plenty of strong performances. Just like last season, Locatelli is amongst Juventus’ leaders in minutes played during the 2025-26 campaign. He has played at least 3,000 minutes in each of his five seasons in Turin. With his new deal, Locatelli is now fully entrenched at Juventus — even more than he already was. With the captain’s armband strapped to his arm, Locatelli will continue to be looked upon to be one of the main players to lead Juventus into the future. Let’s just hope he continues to play like he has for a large portion of the time under Spalletti as the months go on in 2026 and beyond.
